Just like I predicted this morning, YouTube and the media have been overrun by this “news” of the “new” $2,000 a month up to $10,000 a month proposal by Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Ed Markey.
Income limits of $100,000 for single, $150,000 for head of household, $200,000 for married filing jointly with phaseouts reducing the eligible payment by 10% of the amount that the taxpayers’ adjusted gross income exceeds those amounts.
Here’s what I’m here to tell you before I sign off for the night: this is not news. This is a publicity stunt.
I’m not even talking about the fact that this isn’t getting past McConnell. I’m talking about the fact that Pelosi has already signaled support for the idea.
I already told you in my update yesterday that the single most powerful Democrat in the country right now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, has already signaled support to her whips for $2,000 a month in a call on Wednesday night, two days ago, for more Democrats to say the same thing, regardless of whether they’re in the House or the Senate, is non-news.
It’s like if your boss at work supports something and wants to put it up for a vote.
And then some other employees propose a very similar idea, it’s like, what’s the point, the boss already said it, just vote for it, Sanders and Harris, if it passes the House, vote for it in the Senate.
For Sanders and Harris and Markey to do this, it’s just signaling support and frankly it’s a publicity stunt.
Think about it.
Who are the Congresspeople coming up with this stuff? It’s those who like to be in the limelight, those with ambitions.
Emergency Money for the People Act, Tim Ryan, that’s the O.G. $2k a month plan, we know he wanted to be President of the United States, putting something like that out there gets more people familiar with his name and he’s in his mid-40s, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ran another presidential campaign.
Automatic Boost to Communities Act, that’s Rashida Tlaib, we know she likes the limelight, she’s very outspoken.
And who proposed the rent and mortgage cancellation? Ilhan Omar, very public figure for a junior representative.
And same thing today with Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, same spit, different names, they’re extremely public politicians, they both obviously had White House ambitions as well, and I think Harris still does at 55 years old, I think she’ll go for it again.
But it’s just publicity and signalling support, that’s all it is, this doesn’t make the idea of $2,000 a month more likely to pass, it’s non-news.
Pelosi already sent out signals that it looks like she supports $2,000 a month.
For more Democrats to get behind it is non-news and those hyping it up should be ashamed of themselves.
That’s all I wanted to say, I will give you more real stimulus news tomorrow with a stimulus update, go over what Trump said today to Republican members of the House, going to talk about Larry Kudlow, and I’m also going to do a separate video tomorrow about the guidance that the Social Security Administration has given regarding the stimulus payments for those who have a representative payee because new guidance came out this week, and I think that’s specific enough that it warrants its own video.
